class=\"accordion\"><li><div class=\"title\"><h3>TALLINN BUS STATION HISTORY<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"content\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The history begins on May 23, 1922, when the city administration granted the architect and businessman F. Kangro a permit to operate five bus lines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">1922\u20131939<br \/><\/span><\/strong>City lines and intercity lines originate from Vene turg (Vene market), also known as T\u00e4iturg (flea market), and from 1939 to 1940, from Viru square. The buses were lined up in front of what is now known as the Viru Hotel, right next to the New Market. The traffic organiser, who also sold bus tickets, worked in a small office at the corner of P\u00e4rnu Road and Vene Market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">1940\u20131959<br \/><\/span><\/strong>Buses still depart from the same place, now known as Stalin Square. In 1949, after demolishing the market hall and relocating the market to the Tartu Road district, the intercity bus lines&#8217; departure was transferred to a square next to the Estonia Theatre. A year later, a suitable place was found for intercity bus lines at the side of the huge Stalin square at the beginning of Tartu road, almost where the Radisson hotel is today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>1959\u20131961<br \/><\/strong><\/span>At the beginning of 1959, the bus station was moved to its current location at the corner of Lastekodu and Odra Street. The wooden one-story building on Stalin Square was disassembled and rebuilt at the new bus station square, directly where the bus line No. 17 stop is located today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">1961\u20131965<br \/><\/span><\/strong>A new 2-storied bus station hall was built. According to the plan, the new bus station complex was supposed to be ready by the Estonian SSR&#8217;s 25th anniversary on July 21, 1965.
